Why Liskeard is Good for Business

Thinking of relocating or setting up business in Liskeard? We’ve put together some essential resources to help you…

3 Reasons to do Business in Liskeard

1. Generous Grant Support

Liskeard has access to an excellent and growing range of Cornwall specific programmes of funds from the European Union, and from the Cornwall Council and Local Enterprise Partnership.

Of particular interest to small businesses are the European Infrastructure and Investment Fund 2014-2020 and Business Boost

2. Superb Transport Links

Liskeard has excellent rail links to the rest of Cornwall and the UK. It’s 20 minutes to Plymouth, 50 mins to Cornwall’s capital, Truro, 3:45 hrs to London, 4 hrs to Birmingham. It’s also minutes from the spine of Cornwall’s road network, with fast local and national connections via the A38 and on to the M5. Newquay-Cornwall Airport provides air links and port access is available at both Fowey and Milbay.

3. Quality Work-Life Balance

With its beautiful rural setting but advanced urban services, Liskeard is a great place to live and to work. It’s a bustling market town with stunning architecture and a strong sense of community. Property is very affordable, to buy or rent, commercial or residential. But the thing that sets Liskeard apart is its location. Even though it’s really easy to get to and a business hub for south east Cornwall, it’s an attractive compact town. Walk or drive a few minutes in any direction and you’re in Cornwall’s hearland – Bodmin Moor to the north, the Rame Peninsula and bustling fishing port of Looe to the south.

For hundreds of years, Liskeard has been a meeting place. Cattle markets every other Thursday are an intrinsic part of the local rural economy but the town is also seen as a centre for professional services – architects, lawyers, financial services and design agencies – and is renowned for it’s many independent shops.
