The people of Liskeard are a creative bunch. Pop into Stuart House or The Liskerrett and there’s nearly always an exhibition, craft fair, gallery or some kind of festival going on. If you’re interested in exploring Liskeard’s art scene, we’ve put together a list of a few local artists as a starting point.
You’ll also find details of our local arts and crafts shops here.
The Cow Lady
If you’ve ever stayed in Liskeard, you may have spotted one of Nicky Harwood’s fantastic paintings hanging up in the Nebula Guest House. Arresting and vibrant, you can pick up one of her lovely cow prints in Jelly Pebbles.
Lobster boats, harbours and Cornish church gates – George Jeffrey’s drawings and paintings are beautiful snapshots of Cornish life. Born in Carlisle, Cumbria, George moved to Liskeard some years ago to establish himself as a full-time artist. Take a look at his blog.
These three designer-maker graduates work from a studio just outside Liskeard, making pieces out of wood and ceramic. They will be at the Cornwall Design Fair this year, or you can check out Laura Lane’s Facebook page to see what else they’re up to.
“A self-taught painter inspired by the natural world”, Charles creates paintings inspired by landscapes and the sea. In 2012 he was commissioned to make a fan for Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. Discover more about his work here.
