Cultivator taps into Cornwall and Isles of Scilly’s thriving creative community and draw on decades of industry know-how to tailor-make the support that will see your business soar. Through a combination of business advice, grant funding, employment incentives and events we enable creative businesses to make their ambitions reality.
Cultivator is a business development programme that supports the creative sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It’s a project run by Creative Kernow and works in partnership with the University of Plymouth, Real Ideas Organisation, Cornwall College and Cornwall Development Company.
They support creative businesses and provide one-to-one consultations with specialist advisors, as well as a range of funding opportunities, employment bursaries, skills workshops and networking events to help you grow your business and connect with the right people.

Free help and support for your business
The Growth and Skills Hub work with local businesses, including self-employed people, to help them work smarter, to develop and grow. Whatever your business ambitions, the Growth and Skills Hubs can put you in touch with the right support and training to help make it a reality.
How does it work?
They offer a free business or skills review, which means they meet with you to have a good chat about your business. They will talk about what direction you want to go and what the opportunities and challenges are. They then go and do all the leg work to find the right support and training to help you reach your business goals.
Their friendly team of locally based experts offer a fresh pair of eyes and will work directly with you to identify and access support and training in a way that is right for you and your business.

Cornwall and isles of scilly Local Enterprise Partnership
The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) was launched in May 2011. Private sector-led, it is a partnership between the private and public sectors and is driving the economic strategy for the area, determining local priorities and undertaking activities to drive growth and the creation of local jobs.
The LEP is business-driven and our board includes 11 appointed representatives of the private sector, 3 nominated Cornwall Council representatives, 1 nominated representative from the Council of the Isles of Scilly and 1 Academic or Voluntary/Charity sector representative.
Cornwall and Isles of Scilly LEP is one of 38 LEPs across England set up following the Coalition Government’s new approach to economic development. This new approach puts businesses in the driving seat and empowers the private sector to determine their own priorities.

The European Structural and Investment Funds programme provides funds to help local areas grow. The funds support investment in innovation, businesses, skills and employment and create jobs.
Running from 2014 to 2020, there are 3 types of funds involved in the programme:
- European Social Fund (ESF) focuses on improving the employment opportunities, promoting social inclusion and investing in skills by providing help people need to fulfil their potential
- European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supports research and innovation, small to medium sized enterprises and creation of a low carbon economy
- European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) supports rural businesses to grow and expand, improve knowledge and skills and get started
