Liskeard Welcomes Business

Thinking of expanding, relocating or setting up a new business in Liskeard? We’ve put together some of the reasons which make Liskeard very attractive for businesses, large and small; and some of the resources which may be able to help you in establishing your enterprise in Liskeard.

Premises

There are a range of business premises available in and around the town including retail, offices and business units all at competitive rents. The Town Council is also working in collaboration with Cornwall Council and local landowners to develop more business and industrial space in a wide range of configurations, both to house expansion of the town’s existing companies, and for occupation by new and relocating companies.

Transport

There are excellent transport communications not only between Liskeard and the rest of Cornwall, but also the rest of the UK via the road and motorway links, the fast mainline direct to London and the north, and a regional airport at Newquay-Cornwall only 28 miles and 45mins journey time away.

The A38 from Plymouth and the M5 runs close to Liskeard with a bypass and provides a good link onto Bodmin and the A30 or St Austell and the A390.

Rail service to the rest of Cornwall and the UK link Liskeard in 20 minutes to Plymouth, 50 mins to Cornwall’s capital, Truro, 3:45 hrs to London, 4 hrs to Birmingham.

Port access is also available at Fowey and Millbay, Plymouth.

Local Market

Liskeard has a population of just under 10,000, but services a local area with a population of nearly 50,000. There are also already 1500 firms already located in Liskeard who could also be your new customers and local suppliers.

Place to Live

With its beautiful rural setting, but advanced urban services, Liskeard is a great place to live and to work. It’s a bustling market town with stunning architecture and a strong sense of community. Property is very affordable, to buy or rent. But what sets Liskeard apart is its location. Even though it’s very easy to get to and is a business hub for south east Cornwall, it’s an attractive compact town. Walk or drive a few minutes in any direction and you’re in Cornwall’s heartland – Bodmin Moor to the north, the Rame Peninsula and bustling fishing port of Looe to the south.

Liskeard has a wide range of housing in both the town and outskirts and in the charming surrounding Cornish villages where you and your staff will encounter a very warm welcome. Liskeard offers great facilities for families with 2 primary schools, a Community College, 2 Doctors Surgeries and a Community hospital.

There is a local sports centre with swimming pool and gym and a wide range of other sports are available in the area, including football, cricket and Rugby.

Liskeard is also a safe place for your workers and their families to live and for your business to operate. National Crime statistics show the incidence of crime is low in Liskeard.

Local Centre for S E Cornwall

For hundreds of years, Liskeard has been a meeting place as the main Town in S.E Cornwall, but the town is also noted as a centre for professional services – Banks, architects, lawyers, financial services and design agencies – and is renowned for its many independent shops.

Efficient & Comprehensive Local Utilities

Electricity, water, mains gas and LPG services are all available in Liskeard, together with high speed broadband in most areas.
